THE ISLAND THAT CARRIES US (COMING SOON)

The Island That Carries Us presents Cyprus as a living archive, where architecture, landscape, and everyday life hold traces of memory, labour, and identity.

Drawing on scenes from across both sides of the island, the work brings together historic sites, churches, natural environments, and urban streets. Architectural elements are approached as witnesses to histories of belonging and adaptation, while depictions of nature highlight the relationship between land and human activity.

Street scenes focus on daily life and fleeting moments that shape collective experience. Waterscapes explore the sea as both boundary and passage, reflecting themes of movement and distance. In contrast, images of tourism and hospitality introduce a subtle critique of how heritage is presented and consumed.

By placing these elements side by side, the exhibition moves beyond divided narratives and offers a more interconnected view of place. It invites reflection on identity, memory, and what it means to belong in a landscape that continues to evolve.
